What are dentures?

Dentures are false teeth that are usually made from acrylic and replace missing teeth. They are designed to look like your natural teeth. They can be taken out for cleaning or when you sleep at night.

Dentures can be an economical way to replace teeth and can also be used as a temporary option after teeth are extracted whilst the gums heal prior to placing a dental implant or having a bridge made. Dentures are either full or partial in cases where not all the teeth are missing.

You can choose either full or partial dentures, depending on how many teeth need to be replaced.

Why choose dentures?

If they are not replaced, missing teeth can change the shape of your face, making you look older than you really are. However, with the support from false teeth, you will retain a more youthful appearance and be able to enjoy your food and speak with as much ease as when you had your natural teeth.

Replacing teeth with a denture will also help prevent your natural teeth from tilting, moving into gaps and hence making it more difficult later to replace them.

Typically, your confidence returns and your ability to enjoy the company of others does too.

Are dentures for me?

More natural looking and more comfortable than ever before, today’s false teeth are a great solution for patients who do not suit implants or a bridge to replace lost teeth for various reasons.

If most or all of your teeth are missing, a full denture may be for you. On the other hand, we may recommend a partial denture for those who still have some natural teeth remaining.

You can be any age to suit false teeth, and there are not the same kind of limitations with health and bone density that some patients may experience with other solutions, such as implants.

Dentures are also one of the more cost-effective solutions for replacing missing teeth. If you have health insurance, your provider may help you with the cost, so don’t forget to check first.
